A LABOUR OF LOVE
In August of 2000, Sonny and Mary Ann Hardman found the perfect place for a 110 acre vineyard estate, tucked amidst the tulip poplars and white pines on the gentle hillsides along the banks of the rippling Persimmon Creek. There, they set out to raise a winery unlike other local wineries.
“However much we may conjure up steamy-sultry images of Georgia, this is a cool climate wine that speaks directly to the Georgia hill country, where elevations reveal themselves in the wines of crisp acidity, bright and lively fruit…”

On the Persimmon Creek Seyval Blanc
They planted their vineyard to vitis vinifera – the European family of wine grapes – along the natural contours of the earth. The cool mountain air and hillside soil provide ideal conditions for the making of wines reflecting a special terroir – not of Napa, not of Bordeaux or Marlborough, but proudly, exquisitely of Georgia.
Nestled in the mountains of Northeast Georgia near Lakes Burton and Rabun, Persimmon Creek Vineyards is truly a botanical gem. The cool climate and rocky soil of this 2100 foot elevation site have made an idyllic home for 100% estate grown Reisling, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and the finest of French hybrids, the Seyval Blanc.
It’s a family affair in Persimmon Creek Valley, and everything done here is by hand – laying down the stakes, pruning the vines, picking the grapes, topping the barrels, punching in the corks and applying the labels to each individual bottle. A labor of love, which we hope you can taste in each of our Persimmon Creek wines.
Already, our vintages are winning outstanding awards and reviews. Please look for Persimmon Creek wines at better bottle shops and top restaurants (which currently include some of Georgia’s and the nation’s finest restaurants: The Atlanta Fish Market, Bacchanalia, Canoe, Chops, Nava, Restaurant Eugene, Nikolai’s Roof, Pano’s and Paul’s, Elizabeth’s on 37th, Sea Island Resorts and Quince in San Francisco.)
“The Persimmon Creek Late Harvest Riesling was attractively peachy and the dry Riesling was firmly, proudly dry. Bonne continuation!”
